EOG Notes:
*Be sure your child gets plenty of rest. The length of the test can be up to 4 hours.
*Be sure to have your child to school on time. If a student arrives after testing starts they won't be admitted to the classroom until after testing and will have to test on a different day.
*Be sure your child eats a good breakfast. Lunch will most likely not be served until 12:30 or 1:00.

Spelling

We are now officially done with Spelling!!  The students will receive their spelling notebooks back next week with everything graded. I am proud of how far so many of them have come with their spelling this year.

EOG prep

We will be working through our final EOG test prep this week. We are touching on review of skills that have been learned throughout the year. Please encourage your child to use the strategies that have been taught to help with their success on the assessments.

White Group Homework

There have been some questions about the White Group's worksheet for homework. If your child does not have it that is fine. It will not be counted against them.

Merchandise Needed

The Cougar Buck Auction is the first week of June. We still need a lot of items for the students to bid on. Please, please send in some merchandise. We also need parents to help with the auction on June 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

Here is the link to my calendar for the rest of the school year. I have posted the review units we will study and when each test will be. You may use this information to help your child prepare for each unit test. I will send home study guides which will greatly resemble the tests. I will print the calendar and send it home just in case you cannot access it.

Practice Tests

**Students will be taking practice EOG's on Monday and Tuesday. We will be taking these all day each day. Please try to make sure your students are on time and don't have to leave early those two days.

Volunteers needed

I am in need of a few volunteers on Monday afternoon to refill sheet protectors for the second day of testing. If you are available after 2:00 please consider helping out some.

Science Project Due (Vassar's Class)

Your child has a science project due April 29. They have a green half sheet with details.
It involves making a 3D model of 4 land features and 2 water features. All the features must be labeled.

Picture Day tomorrow

Just a reminder that tomorrow is spring picture day. Order forms were sent home last week. If you would like to order pictures please sent in payment tomorrow.  Students may be out of dresscode for pictures.

2. Kiser's homeroom only: Finish the Science Project on Land and Water features. This is due Wednesday. Refer to previous blog, green handout, and email for details on science project.
2. Layout nice clothes for class and individual pictures on Wednesday.

Field Trip Permission Form

A permission form for this week's field trip to "Math Mania" came home today in the Monday folder. Please sign and return this to school as soon as possible.  Students cannot attend the trip without one of these forms on file.

Proctors Needed

We are in need of many more proctors for the End of Grade tests that will be held May 29th and 30th.  If we do not get enough proctors then we will have to expand the testing over multiple weeks causing the campus to be shut down with no student movement.  PLEASE consider helping on one or both of those days. Information sent home

The student should have brought home a packet of item today to share with you. They should have:
*Picture order forms for individual, homeroom and schoolwide pictures. Pictures will be taken next Wednesday the 17th.

*Yearbook order forms. If you haven't already ordered and would like to purchase one the deadline is next Friday the 19th.

*Report Cards. Please look them over and sign the envelope. You may keep the report cards itself at home.

Junior Achievement

Students will begin a five week program called Junior Achievement on Thursday afternoon.  Junior Achievement is an interactive program that helps students learn about commerce. The leader, Mr. Ron Seitz, is energetic and keeps the children engaged during each session. Please be sure to ask your child what they learned in JA that day.

White Group Worksheet

The white group was not given the worksheet they wrote in their agenda for this evening. They were copied but weren't distributed at the end of class.

Science Project

Kiser's homeroom has a science project due on Wednesday, April 17th. Students have to make a model that includes 4 land features and 2 water features. Students will receive instructions and a rubric today in science class.

Registration Packets

Upcoming Week

Just a reminder that the end of the nine weeks is Tuesday the 26th.  This Thursday the 28th will be an early release day and the start of Spring Break.

End of Quarter

This is just a reminder that the end of the third quarter is Tuesday. No late work will be accepted after this date as our grades will be posted prior to spring break. Please encourage your children to make sure that all of their work has been turned in for the quarter.

Ms. Parrish

This Monday will be Ms. Parrish's last day with us. She has done an excellent job with our students during her time with us.  They will still get to see her around school however, as she will be moving down the hall to work with our fifth grade math students for the remainder of this school year.

Two Hour Delay Friday

NCS will run on a two hour delay tomorrow, February 22. Elementary students can start dropping off at 10:00 and class will start at 10:30.

EOG books reminder

Tomorrow is the last day to order the EOG Coach practice books. If your child is coming to tutoring they must have one. If they are not we would still recommend getting the book to allow your child to practice at home over the next few months. The cost is $16 a book. If you have any questions, contact your child's teacher.

EOG books

Last week a letter came home regarding Coach EOG test prep booklets.  We are asking that orders be in by no later than this Friday so we can get them ordered as soon as possible. If you need more information please contact your child's teacher.

No Spelling

There will be no spelling for the next two weeks. This week we will not be here on Friday to test and next week there are many events going on that will alter our instruction time on various days.

Valentine's Day

We will be having a small Valentine party/snack where students can exchange cards with the children in their homerooms. Bags will be provided for the students to decorate and use to collect their cards. If a child brings cards we ask that they bring one for everyone in the class. The room moms should be contacting you about party details.

Blue Group

Blue Group will need a peice of full sized posterboard for an upcoming project that will be completed entirely at school.  Please send this in by next Thursday so that the students can be ready to begin their project.

Feb 4 Math homework

Coach Books

A letter is coming home today about the opportunity to purchase EOG practice Coach Books. The books are $16 each. These are a good resource to use as practice at home to help prepare your child for the EOG.  A handful of students have also been invited to attend tutoring sessions. We are asking that these students purchase the books to be used in tutoring. If your child is invited to tutoring they will have a different letter in their folder.

Materials

This week the White Group will be making bird nests. If you have any yarn or colored string that you could spare it would be greatly appreciated. Please send it in no later than Wednesday.

Agendas

We are asking that you ask your child to show you their agenda each night. Many students are not completing homework assignments. We are starting a new quarter and we want the students to stay on top of things from the start. The best way you can help is to check their agendas and make sure they have completed all of their assignments.

Jump Rope For Heart

Jump Rope for Heart forms are coming home this week with the students. In order for students to participate a parent must sign the parent permission form and return it back to school. We ask that you do that as soon as possible so that we can pass it along to Mr. Ahn.

Spelling Task

There will be no spelling task this week due to it being a short week. The students will just do the sort, sentences and practice test.

Mrs. Vassar out

I will be out at least Wednesday morning as I have a very sick little boy.  The students will continue on track with the weekly plan. If you need me, please feel free to send me an email.

Spelling

Normally I do not give students Spelling on short weeks when we don't have school on Friday, however we are having spelling this week.  The students will NOT write sentences on Wednesday night. They will instead take their practice test that evening and the test will be on Thursday.

Cougar Buck Store

Just a reminder that we will be having our Cougar Bucks store this Thursday. Please try to send in some items if possible for us to offer the students while they are shopping.

Shoe Boxes

The Blue Group will be doing a project involving shoe boxes. If you have any extra boxes that you could send in that would be great!
